The soup kitchen will take place at Mecca Bingo’s Cecil location in Hull City Centre from 12 noon onwards.

Raise the Roof are a non-profit organisation based in Hull. They run regular soup kitchens and breakfast clubs for people who are struggling, as well as job training and social skills supporting those who need help during tough times.

The organisation ordinarily provides their soup kitchens on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays throughout the week, and have generously partnered up with NHS teams to provide an extra day this week.

Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust staff have kindly given the time from their annual ‘team day’ to contribute to the kitchen, bringing their own ingredients to cook a variety of warm meals on the day.

Chloe Harrison, Registered Nurse at Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust, said:

“We felt it was important, in the current climate, to give back to the community. A community who has been there to support and encourage us through many challenging moments the pandemic has brought to our local NHS.

“While we could’ve spent our team day in house completing activities, we thought, what better way to build a team than by doing something that helps others?”

Anyone who needs a warm meal is welcome to come down to Mecca Bingo on Thursday 7 July from 12o’clock lunchtime. The address is Cecil House, 9b Anlaby Road, Hull, HU1 2NR.
