A new Hull events company is launching with a night of Madchester nostalgia, bringing Happy Mondays icons Shaun Ryder and Bez to Connexin Live, Hull.
Who’s Coming? will make its debut on Friday 26th February 2027 with Madchester Mayhem – an evening of candid stories, big laughs and era-defining music from two of the scene’s most recognisable figures.
Happy Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder and legendary dancer, TV personality and bandmate Bez will take to the stage for an up-close-and-personal live Q&A, sharing unfiltered stories from their extraordinary careers and the cultural movement that helped define a generation.
The Q&A will be followed by a Madchester-themed DJ set, with Shaun and Bez joined by a special guest radio DJ, still to be announced. Expect iconic anthems and dancefloor favourites from one of British music’s most influential eras.
The event will appeal to longtime Happy Mondays fans, those who lived through the Madchester years and younger audiences keen to experience its music, energy and legacy for themselves.
The first ticket-holders will receive an exclusive, free Who’s Coming? branded bucket hat, setting the tone for a retro festival-inspired night in the heart of Hull.
Founded by Gary Wilkinson, Who’s Coming? is a new Hull events company specialising in live entertainment, music, sports-personality appearances, corporate occasions, private events, promotions and launches.
Gary said: “We want to create events people genuinely want to be part of – whether that means bringing fans face-to-face with someone they have admired for years, delivering a brilliant night of music, or helping a business make a real impact through a launch or celebration.
“Madchester Mayhem is the perfect first event for us. Shaun Ryder and Bez are genuine icons, with the stories, humour and musical legacy to create an unforgettable night. It will be nostalgic, lively and a little bit unpredictable – in exactly the right way.
“We are excited to bring them to Hull and launch Who’s Coming? with an event people will be talking about long after the night is over.”
Shaun Ryder became one of the defining voices of the late 1980s and early 1990s Madchester scene as Happy Mondays’ frontman. Bez became an equally recognisable part of the band’s story, later reaching a new generation of viewers through television, including Gogglebox.
