Top UK prospect from Hull travels abroad for next bout

George Staines hopes to keep his undefeated professional record intact when he returns to action at OKTAGON 71 in Munich on 17th May.

‘Saint George’ is based in Hull and has made his ambition known to be one of the most successful sportsmen to ever come out of the city. After an incredible amateur run which saw him amass a record of 16-1, the 24-year-old has now established himself as one of the best prospects in the UK.

He rose to prominence on the OKTAGON Challenge: England vs. Ireland reality show where he won two bouts before defeating Denis Frimpong in the final to be crowned the series champion. Since then, Staines has dominated two opponents to move to 3-0 as a professional as well as moving his training camp to work alongside superstars Paddy Pimblett, Shem Rock and Molly McCann.

His opponent in Germany, Hafeni Nafuka, has also looked impressive in his recent outings so this will be a true clash of talents where Staines will have to overcome big crowd support for his adversary in enemy territory. A victory could place him in the top 10 of the OKTAGON MMA lightweight rankings.

You can tune into the bout on Saturday 17th May, at OKTAGON.TV or make the short trip to Munich to support Staines by purchasing tickets on this link.
