Local hospice engages in recycling initiative to help raise awareness and funds

This Christmas will see local charity Dove House Hospice embrace tree-cycling as part of their Christmas Tree Recycling appeal. The initiative aims to engage with residents and allow them to dispose of their Christmas trees in an eco-friendly manner whilst helping to raise funds towards the care that Dove House provides across Hull and East Yorkshire.

Firms team up to give support at Hull homelessness charity

Emmaus Hull & East Riding provides a home, training, work opportunities and individual support to people who have experienced homelessness. On Thursday 21 November, staff from Go Green Ltd and wienerberger visited Emmaus where Go Green Ltd staff led engaging CV and mock interview workshops. Additionally, both Go Green and wienerberger staff helped out in the charity shops in Hull.

A message from the RSPCA: Why animals need us this Christmas

At the RSPCA, every four minutes, we receive a report of animal neglect — a staggering and sobering statistic. In the first nine months of 2024 alone, our emergency cruelty line recorded 48,814 incidents of neglect, a nearly 25% increase from the 38,977 cases reported during the same period in 2023. These figures paint a distressing picture of the struggles faced by animals across the country and the urgent need for support during what is expected to be one of the toughest winters yet.

RSPCA Hull & East Riding and Hull Minster are delighted to be hosting an Animal Blessing Service on Sunday 20 October from 2pm to 3pm at Hull Minster. This unique event – the first for Hull Minster – coincides with the 200th Anniversary of the RSPCA, celebrating two centuries of dedication to animal welfare.
